We are about to enter what in recent years has been a particularly dangerous time of the year out on the roads here in the United States. According to Insurance Institute for Highway Safety statistics, August is the deadliest month of the year when it comes to driving.
These statistics regard fatal traffic accidents over the 2012 to 2016 period. During this period, 15,914 people lost their lives out on U.S. roads in August.
The statistics also point to August being home to the deadliest day of the whole year for driving. This is Aug. 2. Over the above-mentioned period, 505 deaths came out of traffic accidents that occurred on this day.
