The top 5 body parts that are injured in motorcycle crashes

If you ask a motorcyclist in Stamford who prefers to ride on a motorbike instead of a car, they'll likely tell you that they appreciate just how freeing it feels to have nothing separating them from the blowing wind. This motivates many motorcyclists to take to the road wearing far less clothing than what's necessary to protect each and every body part in a crash.

A study performed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) revealed that during the years of 2001 and 2008, 1,222,000 motorcyclists were treated for non-life threatening injuries in emergency rooms in Connecticut and across the rest of the United States.

Of the different injuries that emergency room doctors saw motorcyclists for during those years, 30 percent, or the majority, were seen for foot and leg injuries. The second largest number, or 22 percent of the motorcyclists, were treated for neck or head injuries. Bikers also hurt their backs, chests, shoulders, hands, arms, pelvises and hips on a lesser scale.

That same data fails to capture what type of safety equipment motorcyclists were wearing when they were involved in these crashes.

While motorcyclists can recover from many injuries such as road rash, bruises, cuts and even most broken bones relatively quickly, neck, back and head injuries may leave the riders with permanent disabilities. If you've suffered serious injuries such as these, then you might want to have a personal injury attorney to review your potential claim and help you determine responsibility so that you can recover much-needed compensation that you'll need to pay your medical bills in the future.
