Connecticut worker killed in construction accident

A construction worker from a neighboring Connecticut community was recently killed in a construction accident. A second worker was taken to the hospital following the construction accident with life-threatening injuries. The 29-year old worker was killed, and the other worker seriously injured, while working on the second story portion of the roof of a home. Scaffolding had been erected on one side the 3-story home, however, there was no scaffolding at the rear of the home where the men were apparently working on a second story portion of the roof.

Local police and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration were investigating the accident and charges had not been filed following it. Workers' compensation benefits can be critically important for families who have lost a loved one in a workplace accident such as a construction accident or families and workers struggling to rebuild their lives following a construction accident.

Families may be able to receive death benefits associated with the loss of a loved one in a workplace accident, while injured workers may be able to receive benefits to help with the medical expenses, lost earnings and other harm associated with a construction accident and the process of recovering from a construction accident. In addition, if a third party is responsible for the harm suffered by the worker, further legal options may be available to help protect workers and their family members.

When a worker has been injured or killed in a scaffolding fall, ladder fall or other type of fall, it is important that the worker and the worker's family understands how to protect themselves. Workers and their families should always be familiar with the resources available to help assist them through the process of recovering physically and emotionally from a construction accident.
