Connecticut scaffold fall results in injured construction worker

Men and women who work on scaffolding are at risk for falls and, therefore, potentially serious injuries. Scaffolding may be unstable, and due to the heights at which workers are working, a scaffolding fall can result in major trauma for a Connecticut construction worker.

One Connecticut construction worker recently suffered a major fall and was injured on a jobsite in Hartford. He fell more than 60 feet from the scaffolding on which he was working when it collapsed. He was working on a jobsite at the Bone and Joint Institute at Hartford Hospital on what is known as a "rolling scaffold." The rolling scaffold fell off the building, leading to the construction site accident. According to another worker on the site, when the scaffold fell, it made a loud noise similar to that of debris being thrown into a dumpster. Following the three-story fall, the victim was unconscious. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

The accident is being investigated by OSHA, as well as the construction contractor and Hartford Hospital. Following an accident such as this one, OSHA investigates in order to determine what happened and whether anyone was at fault in the accident. Their goal is to reduce future incidents that may involve significant injuries or fatalities by identifying existing problems that might have led to an accident in the first place.

If you or a loved one has been injured on a construction site, you may be eligible for workers' compensation benefits, which can be critical during a time of unexpected medical bills and lost wages. An attorney may be able to offer guidance regarding how to seek out these helpful benefits.
