Connecticut construction worker suffers serious injury

Connecticut construction workers do hard work. The work can also be dangerous. Construction workers and their employers have to take safety precautions at every turn to avoid potentially dangerous construction worker accidents. Failure to take proper precautions may mean that a worker ends up with major injuries.

One Connecticut construction worker recently suffered serious head injuries on the jobsite after a brick fell on him. The worker was part of a crew that was renovating the former Hartford Office Supply Company building. While he was working on the outside of the building a brick fell from the roof and hit him in the head.

The worker was wearing a hardhat at the time of the injury, but despite this essential precaution, he fell to the ground and was knocked unconscious. The worker's condition at the Hartford Hospital was listed as extremely critical. The incident is being investigated by OSHA, as well as the Hartford Police and representatives of the city's Licenses and Inspections Office.

An injury suffered at the workplace can lead to serious consequences. From expensive medical bills to time away from work, there can be numerous and far-reaching effects. A worker who has been injured on the job may be able to recover workers' compensation benefits to help pay for their expenses while they recover. Benefits are available to cover lost wages, medical expenses, vocational rehabilitation and disability, among other expenses and losses. An attorney experienced in this area of the law may be able to provide guidance about how best to proceed.
