How much do Connecticut employers pay for workers' compensation?

In Connecticut, no matter what the risk factor of a job is, employees who are injured at work are entitled to workers' compensation. This kind of insurance gives workers confidence that there is assistance available in case an injury does occur. Still, sometimes employers aren't aware of the proper procedures after an on-the-job injury, or an employer will try to deny a claim. In any case, people who are injured on the job would do well to consult with a workers' compensation attorney.

With these concerns in mind, workers in Connecticut may be interested in a recent study regarding how much employers pay for workers' compensation insurance. Research shows that Connecticut employers pay the second highest premium rates for workers' compensation in the country -- $2.99 for every $100 of wages earned. That means that Connecticut contributes 159 percent of the national median.

Connecticut is followed by New York at fifth, New Jersey at seventh, New Hampshire at ninth, Maine at 10th and Pennsylvania 12th in the ranking list. According to officials who conducted the study, the premium rates for each state were collected from 51 jurisdictions and based on rates that became effective on January 1, 2012.

Regardless of what employers pay for insurance, employees need coverage after an injury. They need to be cleared for medical treatment and rehabilitation, and legal help is often necessary to do that. It is common for physicians to side with employers and deny necessary medical treatment, but with the proper legal help, injured workers can maximize their benefits and receive the compensation they need and deserve.
